Museum
Nestled inside of
the Community Center walls you will find our Schoolroom Museum.
This museum is full of memorabilia from the years gone by when the building
held classes for grades 1 through 12.
As progress goes and with the construction of a modern grade school and high school, it was no longer necessary to maintain this wonderful old school building. For fear that it would be torn down; a group of citizens came together and formed The Thompson Community Center Association.Through the years and by necessity, many updates have been made to this building. Not so in this classroom. It is like taking a step back in the past and has been protected through the years from change. After all, this original classroom alone brings the Centers past into the present. In room 17 on the second level, you will find samples of old school desks, year books, report cards, uniforms, photos etc. There is no admission though donations are always welcome. Call for Open Hours. We are looking for a few volunteers to do archival work on the memorabilia. Do you have any experience in this area or maybe an hour or two spare to open the doors?
